First Presbyterian Church of Warminster

The First Presbyterian Church of Warminster was incorporated in January 2016. As a result of a merger between Warminster Presbyterian Church (est. 1950) and First Presbyterian Church of Willow Grove (est. 1924), the new First Pres Warminster was born. Our congregation takes pride in the tight-knit family feeling and long-standing community relationships for which we have become known.

Our Mission

Our mission is to demonstrate God’s love and joyously share the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, music, and service to others. We seek to motivate and support each other in our faith, involve our congregation in local and global outreach, and proclaim God’s mercy and peace.

Our Vision

Our vision is to share the love of Christ, inspire faith, serve others, and praise God.

History of the Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church of Warminster is a reformed congregation of worship and is a member of the larger Presbyterian family, the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.

As a reformed congregation, we share in the history of the larger reformation including Lutherans, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the United Church of Christ. In many ways our worship will feel and look very similar. We all share in the two sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We also share similar views (though not identical) in our understanding of the importance of the Bible as the central document of our faith. We often work together in many of our neighborhoods and clergy from each of these churches can function within all of the congregations.

The governing body in a local Presbyterian church is the Session. Along with the minister, who is the Moderator, the group is composed of elders (elected by the congregation), who meet monthly to manage the total operation of the congregation.

You become a member by joining the church through an affirmation of faith in Jesus Christ or by transferring your membership from another partner member congregation.
